This is a very attractive filing cabinet with a nice finish but with a slot at the top (looks like plastic to me) with no insulation and no gasket, I don't know how fireproof it would be. Perhaps the bottom drawer would have been a bit larger, but what the fire didn't destroy would likely be destroyed by the water used to put out the fire. It's durable and fits in my office, so I keep it to myself. But I don't think I'll use it for a fireproof filing cabinet, which is fine because that's the price of a regular cabinet of the same quality. I can't say if it's refractory or not, but I won't specifically test it either.
