A quick and easy fix that will save you money

My 2004 Nissan Pathfinder SE started running sluggishly and stuck when going uphill. It revved to 5000 rpm just to keep it going at 40 mph. It gave out codes P0011 and P0021 which indicate camshaft sensors. Bought two of these and decided to replace them. You need to remove the engine cover (3 bolts), then disconnect some other sensors and wires to access the left (from driver's perspective) camshaft sensor and either remove or bypass the coolant hose to access the right one. The sensors are held in place by a single screw and also have a green lever that needs to be pushed (pliers recommended) to be able to remove them. They're pretty tight in there, so you'll need a flathead screwdriver or something. When installing new sensors, I recommend lubricating the o-rings with some motor oil to make installation easier. My check engine light is still on, but my car is running normally again. It actually feels smoother and the throttle is more responsive than before the sensors failed.

Pros
  • Sensors
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
