Saved me tons at the Stealership!

Love this tester. Bought a car at a dealership and a few weeks back i got my free oil change and mentioned the brake fluid was bad. So i was like oh really? Popped it in and tested it in front of them and said, no its good dont try to sell me a service my car doesn't need. They were left saying oh our mistake 🤣🤣 savage! Love testers as such for this very reason. Then tested my honda which is 16 years old and found that fluid needing replaced. Happy camper! Would recommend to any novice DIY…

Pros
  • Works great, it lit up like a Christmas tree as soon as it hit my old brake fluid in my motorcycle.
Cons
  • It may not work as effectively on old or contaminated brake fluid

Watch my video - my new review

Watch the video. I bought 15 of these to use in my shop for all out bay personnel. I tested 2 of the brake fluid testers on dot 3 and dot 4 brake fluid. I also used water to clean probes in between each use as to not contaminate the tool. The tool would reset to 0 before testing different fluid. I bought 4 different dot 3 and dot 4 fluids from different vendors. Each bottle was brand new. The tester reads greater than 4% on brand new dot 3 fluid. Which would indicate the fluid needs to be…

Pros
  • This device works well. Now I only have to change my brake fluid when it is really necessary.
Cons
  • The pen may require regular calibration to maintain accuracy

Cheap and effective

I actually have two moisture testers. They agree; so I am saying that they're accurate. So easy to use.If it indicates moisture present, flush and refill. Check again and no moisture present in the new fluid.

Pros
  • Simplifies the brake system testing process
Cons
  • It may not be accurate if used on brake fluid that has been recently changed

Definitely recommend

Well I was always wondering if I needed to change my fluid while waiting some videos on YouTube. They recommended using this meter. No need to change yet.Definitely takes the dibble thoughts.Good wrenching everyone.

Pros
  • Ideal for automotive technicians, mechanics, and DIY car owners
Cons
  • It may not be accurate for testing brake fluid with a high copper content

Super dipper for my opinion

Bought this to test my vehicles brake fluid. Seems the motul 6009 racing fluid in my track car was the only one that passed. No I have work to do….works great easy to use and tests within a second. Just be sure to have good amount of fluid to dip into as if its to shallow it wont read.

Pros
  • Convenient pen-shaped design is easy to hold and operate
Cons
  • The pen may require a steady hand for accurate use

Works Well for my opinion

The tester is small and lightweight overall it's 5 stars as it's a handy little tool for quick readings. What I've noticed is that if the probes only slightly touch the fluid as opposed to being completely submerged, the readings are different. For this reason I gave it 4 stars for ease of use since some brake reservoirs are a tight fit for the short probes and as such you can't read the fluid. The tester has been used in a garage for almost 2 years now and no problems other than being unable…

Pros
  • Does not require a power supply; operates on batteries
Cons
  • It may not be compatible with silicone-based brake fluids

Good enough for initial indications

This tool seems adequate to learn the ballpark status of the brake fluid's H2O content. It is not precise. For a more accurate measure, use a multimeter (instructions abound on the 'Tube.) Still, if this tool indicates excessive H2O content, that is probably enough to warrant flushing (not just bleeding) the vehicle's brake system.

Pros
  • Brake System
Cons
  • The pen may not be reliable for use on high-performance vehicles

Saved me a lot of money

This device allowed me to check the moisture content of my brake fluid to determine whether it had to be changed. Unlike the car owner’s manual which called for three year changes in brake fluid whether you need it or not, this device saved me a lot of money by indicating when the brake fluid actually needed to be changed.

Pros
  • Provides reliable results every time
Cons
  • It may not be suitable for testing the brake fluid in some hybrid or electric cars

Better qualitity compared to others

Other cheap tester broke with a day or the second use of tool. This one however actualy works! No need to buy an OTC or over priced tester.

Pros
  • I checked it before changing the oil and it came out that there is no need to change it.
Cons
  • It could give false readings if not used correctly

Looks like it works.

Bought it to check if my really old brake fluid in my truck needed to be changed. After inserting a AAA battery, I did what others had mentioned and dipped the two probe tips into a cup of water and it lit up like a christmas tree (as expected). I then dipped it in brand new brake fluid and iirc, it either lit up one or no LED dots (again, as expected- since there shouldn't be any water moisture in a brand new bottle of DOT3 brake fluid where the foil top was just removed.) Now, after cleaning…

Pros
  • The LED indicators will show percentage of water in the brake fluid with 3 colors green yellow and red
Cons
  • The LED indicators may be confusing for someone who is not familiar with testing brake fluid

Appears to work for my opinion

Liked the tester, didn't like that the delivery person threw the package in the bushes outside the office after hours. Good stuff here--!

Pros
  • Good stuff here--
Cons
  • The LED indicators may not be visible in certain lighting conditions

Not sure you can trust it?

I tested it in two brand new Brake Fluid bottles and it failed both of them. Each bottle was from a different store. Both bottles were a Prestone Brake Fluid but one was a 50K fluid and the other was a 100K fluid. Both failed, what do you trust. Does Prestone use additives that change the conductivity of the fluid? I contacted Prestone by e-mail and phone and they never replied. Makes you wonder about Prestone as a Company . I have seen others complain about Preston Brake Fluid failing with…

Pros
  • Helps to eliminate unnecessary fluid changes
Cons
  • The pen may require regular maintenance to keep it in good working order

Top button doesn't work

Product seems to be pretty accurate. However the button on the top does not activate the clicker. It falls in and becomes stuck and I have to disassemble for it to fit again. Can't say I would recommend it.

Pros
  • Non-invasive testing eliminates the need for dismantling
Cons
  • It may not be accurate if used on fluid that has been recently flushed

Works as advertised

Only thing worth noting is that some brake fluid reservoirs are hard to get to and this model requires you to dip the electrodes into the reservoir (if testing direct from the car). From a 2015 Volkswagen GTI I had to take the engine cover off which only took a few seconds.

Pros
  • Sensors
Cons
  • The pen may not be effective for brake fluid that has been mixed with another type of fluid

Revainrating 4 out of 5

it is a resistance tester

Theoretically, the tester is accurate and stable, this is very simple tool, it firstly invert 1.5V to 5VDC applied on the test pins, measure the resistance to compare preset values, when the resistance about 190K or above two LEDs will be lit, when the resistance below 190K, 3 LEDs will be lit, it means 3%, more lower resistance about 170K will turn on 4 LEDs.But brake fluid standard ( ISO 4925) does not have so called water percentage limit, so the seller said "calibrated for DOT3 DOT4 brake…

Pros
  • Cost-saving alternative to traditional testing methods
Cons
  • The pen may not be effective for testing the brake fluid in older vehicles with different brake systems

Does it all for a great price

Use this thing every day at work (I am a mechanic) and this thing makes testing brake fluid so easy and it's very accurate. Sometimes I look at fluid and see that it's very dark and assume it's already bad but the tester will come back with only 2% moisture in the fluid meaning the customer can ride out the fluid they have a little longer. Sometimes it's the complete opposite fluid looks great, customer just had it done at a jiffy lube but guess what fluid is at 4% or more moisture due to the…

Pros
  • Like the ease of use. But still prob need to change the brake fluid every couple years
Cons
  • The pen may not work on some newer vehicles with advanced brake systems

Let's you know when to change Your Brake Fluid ACCURATELY

Leaves the guess work out of brake fluid change maintenance. I tested a 10 month old (2021) Toyota Sienna compared to a 2012 Toyota Camry and the Sienna measured zero moisture and the Camry measured 3% so need to change the Camry soon :)

Pros
  • On-board memory stores up to 10 previous test results
Cons
  • It may not be compatible with some brake fluid brands, especially older ones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

it simply works for my opinion

tested my two cars, one was above 4% and another was 2%. the one with above 4% had been using the same brake fluid more than for 5 years. the one with 2% had brake fluid change around 2 years ago. not sure the word "accuracy" but certainly quite consistent with years of brake fluid being used.

Pros
  • This product work well.
Cons
  • Battery cover pops off with the slightest disturbance.

What a marvelous device!

I had used test strips in the past to test brake fluid, but they are actually quite expensive. This device serves the same purpose, and it avoids premature replacement of the brake fluid on a set schedule. It showed that I needed to replace the brake fluid quite soon – – not yet on an emergency basis – – and after I replace the brake fluid, it correctly showed that there was zero water in the brake system.

Pros
  • Suitable for use on all types of vehicles
Cons
  • The pen may not be accurate for testing the brake fluid in heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles

Reliable and Accurate - Good Value for Money

Except for the battery cover which needs some scotch tape to stay put (!), this is indeed a very reliable and accurate brake fluid tester, and surprisingly so. Looking at the poor snap lock design of the battery cover I did not have high hopes for the rest of this device under $15.I was indeed very surprised by its accuracy to exactly measure water content in brake fluid, which is its intended purpose. I ran multiple calibrated tests with new and 3-year old brake fluid all stored in tightly…

Pros
  • Simple to use and appears to be very accurate.
Cons
  • Replacing the batteries could be difficult or expensive
