The specific model I'm writing this review for is a 135 inch screen in matte white with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Bought this as an upgrade to an old (10+ year old) 105 inch Elite screen with a silver frame and matte gray finish. Comparison of the two devices: - Image quality: Much better than I expected and I think it's better than the Elite Matte White model I tested before. The difference between this device and my Elite Matte Gray is only noticeable to me, not the rest of my family. I bought the white model to save $ (a gray model was also available at the time, but it was a lot more expensive). White material increases brightness, but at the same time risks producing an unevenly bright image (where the "hot spot" area is brighter than the rest). I'm specifically looking for this issue (moving around and looking at the picture from a different angle) and I don't see it. So I'm very happy with the picture quality. Overall Frame Construction and Quality: The multi-piece frame is stronger than I expected and the pieces fit together well making a very good frame with all sides very straight. The screen material needs to be stretched quite a bit to fit (compared to how much the Elite screen took as far as I remember). This is the most difficult part of the building process, and some humble buyers might even think they got a screen that's too small for the frame supplied. One more thing to add to my nitpick checklist: even though it takes so much stretching, the final screen still isn't perfectly flat; some small wavy lines can still be seen; again compared to my old elite screen which looks flat. Let me explain: this does not affect the image quality and is not visible at all during real video projection. This is only visible when looking very closely (at almost 180% lateral viewing angle of the screen) when the room is completely brightly lit. As for the design, I personally would prefer a bare metal frame with a smooth finish. Black bordered (similar to the Elite), better than an all black velvet wrapped frame. Velvet material is more prone to damage during installation (even tiny scratches are visible) and collects dust over time. Finally, as many have already pointed out, the assembly instructions could be improved! I know and anticipated the difficulties this job would entail, but one thing confused me at first: the instructions and parts list list some screws and brackets that have been replaced and/or are no longer needed. At first I thought my package was missing some parts. I was almost ready to send it back to Revain, but since it's a bulky package, over 6ft long, I kept thinking that maybe I could replace the missing screws and brackets with generic hardware store accessories. . Fortunately, it turns out in the end that spare parts are not needed at all.
