Disclaimer I bought elsewhere. I thought this was great because I could adjust the output or backflow from a G6 unit I own. I believe it's the same inlet that allows you to use the outlet as a sprinkler with almost holes throughout the outlet. Part and Canby are placed horizontally over your aquarium, you can control the water flow by unplugging the connector at the end of the outlet fitting. This will relieve the pressure and most of the water will exit through the clogged outlet. The plug is not pressurized to force water out of the smaller holes and this allows for more water flow. Some of the water will still come out of the holes. The only problem I have is algae build up from the holes. and you really need a cleaner that is similar to the pipe cleaner but extra safe for aquarium use. The experience of algae accumulation when I placed the device above the water level as described above is much greater than when I placed the outlet directly into the water. My algae eaters and regular circulating water will deliver less algae in and out, but like every other model we'll have algae in and out. I have not tried this with any other model and probably would not recommend it as your flow may be too strong. But if anyone has tried it I would ask them if they would leave a review. I feel like I said input and output too many times lol. I hope you understand why I wanted to say that. In essence, the outlet is similar to a sprinkler, but one of those that create a rainbow effect, not the ones that rotate. And all!
