have not tried the remote control. I used this for lighting for shooting video with a real camera. I thought I could find a way to turn a phone holder into a camera holder, but I didn't try too hard. I can just put the camera behind him. Brightness settings are excellent. I think all the colors available are a bit high but I might see someone else having fun with it. The main disadvantage of the product is that the tripod is small and flimsy, making the lightweight top heavy and prone to falling. I have this problem even without the extra weight of the phone holder and phone so it would be even worse if used for its intended purpose.
