ink flow consistency - out of the box.

i purchased an all stainless steel bastion fountain pen - 'bout a year ago, more less.it does not write with any sense of consistency.i have not cleaned the nib - that's in the works. that bein' wrote.my 25$ lamy plastic fountain pen flows more consiste²ntly than this x2-$ pen. why is that?i sense that the bastion fountain pen is not for novice calligrate instrumental users. and this is where i deviate.
