The instructions were clear and precise. I discovered .

The instructions were clear and to the point. I placed the unit on the ground with a clear view of the southern sky, made all the connections, programmed the receiver into an 18" round multi-switch bowl, and it worked! No settings the first time! The picture is SD not HD but I knew that when I ordered the unit.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Still looking for answers

I have never been able to get my HR 54 Direct TV receiver to work with the King VQ4800. It switched to the satellite, showed that I had a signal, but it only showed clear channels. When he heard I was using a camping system, he called Directv customer service. He resigned, saying he knew nothing about this system. Still working on a solution to the problem. Nobody seems to have an answer yet.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • No performance

Signal strength will be low

I was surprised when I plugged this in and the signal strength was only about 67%. This is negligible for my rooftop Wingard Sat and also my home system, but King tech support told me this is normal for this satellite dish. I had ideal conditions to pick up a signal, but that was all I could get. If I had less than ideal conditions, I probably wouldn't even get a signal strong enough to watch Direct TV programs. Seems like bad design to me.

Very disappointed! for audio and video accessories

I've always liked these satellites. I had a few so there are some of my family members. I've been using one for several years. older model. he stopped working. So I ordered this model. king alone. Thought the new model would be better. I was wrong. I walk more often without receiving a signal than with receiving a signal. I have to keep turning it off and on again for it to even start searching. Then a few more times and then it doesn't lock onto what I'm assuming isn't the right satellite. At…

Not worth the headache!

When I first bought the King cymbal, I bought the back cover. I was less than impressed having repaired 2 under warranty and 3 more in less than 2 years. I switched to 4100 hoping they would be better. I WAS WRONG! First 2 lasted 8 months total, looks like the trunk, they weren't built for life on wheels so I tried the 4800 after reading how much better they are, first lasted 3 months, the next? 5 weeks. when do you work? They're great and comfortable, but when do they stop working? The…

Custom antenna mount

Overview of our rig: two boxes of H24, King VQ4100, King UC1000 and a DirecTv approved 2-way broadband SWM splitter (msplit2r1-03). someone who did what I wanted to do. I wanted to run a coax cable from the connector on the outside of my 1999 RV to the dish. I'm trying not to cut more holes in the van. Disconnect the wires from the antenna booster that powers the TVs and insert a DirecTv approved 2-way SWM broadband splitter (msplit2r1-03) at this point. The splitter provides power transmission

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Should have gotten one a long time ago

After reading the other reviews I was worried I might have trouble getting a strong signal at campsites but I was tired of the manual dish set up and aligned on a tripod. Delivered in 2 days, unpacked and set up in the driveway, hooked up to our camper for testing. I am using a Directv D-12 receiver. Set up the power source, by this point my receiver had completed its reboot and I was seeing Directv. I went into the signal meters and found all my transponders at 95% or better and overall signal

  • Nice to use

DirectTV Now AT&T just got here. He used an H25 receiver. The dish rotated and was aligned with satellite 101 with an unobstructed view. When running the tests it never showed that it was receiving a signal. Everything was fine except for the connections. But no signal would be received. Being Sunday King customer service is closed. I've been waiting for weeks to finally get time to take off and show up on DirectTV. so disappointed. $500 and an extra quick install kit $86.00 and my time…

VQ4100 QUEST Local channels explained in test.

SUPER! I was so tired of setting up my tripod dish and then putting it all away while I was camping. So I chose the King Quest to make my setups a breeze. With this dish I get all my programs including my local channels. Setup is now a breeze. Just place the portable dish outside facing the satellites, turn everything on and BAM! In a few minutes you have television. Admittedly I lost the HD programming but I can live with that in my RV. It's not the manufacturer of these dishes' fault for the…
