A must for all seasons

For almost three weeks in January and February we are in Lofoten, Norway (68°N, above the Arctic Circle) and then in the Swiss Alps (13,000+ meters of altitude). ). For a deep winter tour in both directions, I ordered two sets of Eagle Creek Pack-It compression cubes and two sets of Eagle Creek Specter compression cubes. In over 40 years of traveling around the world, we've only checked our luggage once. As almost always, we will only have hand luggage this time. My husband will be carrying a Kestrel 48 and I will be carrying an Osprey Kyte 36. For personal items we have a Think Tank Retrospective 20 camera bag and an Induro tripod. That's all. If the capacity is *not* full, both backpacks will fall within the carry-on allowance on European budget airlines. However, I want to be sure that what I ordered from Eagle Creek will compress everything and in turn make the backpack more compact for airline staff. I only used 3.5 sets to pack this long list of clothing and accessories (depending on thickness). 3 pairs of thick mid-layer leggings made from Woolx merino wool 1 pair of long pants made from merino wool from Woolx 3 heavy Woolx sweaters 1 Scotch-Cashmere sweater (very thick) 2 pairs of ski trousers 1 down parka North Face (Incredible 1 down parka from Rab 3 sets of silk Underwear (long sleeve tops and long pants) 8 pieces Merino underwear 4 pairs of heavy Merino wool socks 2 pairs of silk insoles 2 pairs of Hestra ski gloves 1 Smartwool gaiters 2 Merino knit/cashmere hats 1 hat with ear flaps 1 fur roller hat 1 Stormy Kromer headgear Toiletries, cosmetics, medicines and electronic accessories Thanks to the compression kits in our two packs, they are still within the line of flight with a few centimeters of reserve I was very impressed The difference between the two models: Pack-It Compression Cube : a little heavier, weight: 4 oz, large dimensions: 14 × 10 × 1.25 inches (which means more capacity) Top zipper opens on d 3 Side Pack-It Specter Compression Cube: Featherweight: 2 oz. Smaller sizes: 10 × 7 × 1 inches. The top zip only opens halfway. I liked both models, but found the original Pack-It compression model was much better for large, bulky items (down parkas and heavy merino wool underwear). ). The Specter model was perfect for light clothing and everything else. I recommend both Eagle Creek Compression Cube models to travelers looking to pack easily and efficiently.
