Review on ๐Ÿ“ฑ Rugged UAG Case for Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Plus/7/6/5/4 - Military Grade Protection, Aluminum Stand, Black by Steve Wynn

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It feels solid in hand and the device appears to offer protection.

Feels solid in hand The device seems to offer protection from all sides, even when I lay it face down. I was concerned that it might be too thick for the keyboard to fold over, but it seems to fit perfectly and doesn't affect day-to-day use. Note: Pen storage has been moved to the top of the case next to the camera. it is housed in its own rubberized clip. Please note that if you have a screen protector you may have the same problem as me where the contour of the case on the sides of the surface lifts the screen protector up a bit. To fix this, take a sharp razor blade and carefully cut away the ridges on the rubber where the case meets the computer. I had to go a little further and make a *very small* bevel. Problem solved I really like this case. It's a little heavy, but doesn't cause any discomfort. There's enough stuff in there to justify the weight. I would like to give it a 5 star rating, but it has a few issues. The first is the screen protector issue I mentioned above. a little thin. I wish there was a little more support there as the case bends and peels when I pick up my computer from above. Third, while there's a very nice die-cast aluminum (?) stand, it's plastic. Ratchet mechanism to keep the foot at a specific angle. I would like to see a continuously adjustable system like it was originally on the surface. Or at least a ratchet that isn't made out of cheap tactile/sound plastic. it really detracts from the quality of an otherwise very nice case. Surface uses a hybrid cooler. It dissipates heat both passively through the device's chassis and actively through a traditional heatsink/fan. I've seen some other reviewers raise concerns about the case acting as an insulator and causing some device temperature issues, but I haven't encountered any issues myself. The chipset temperature is in the normal range and the fan doesn't seem to run faster.

Pros
  • There's something there
Cons
  • Minor issues
