I'd say that's a great thing. I didn't want to drill holes in the railing for the children's gates. The baby gate I was trying to install didn't actually have a railing option, just used zip ties around the posts. While this is fine around the round part, I know that the zip ties would round out the square part of my post if tightened. I have mapped the same posts with a paragraph. They worked great on the bottom square and top where it's rounded under the rail with the included adapters. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the wood mounting surface that came with it was unfinished and too thin for my application. The boards are 1 1/2 inches wide. My gates used hooks that required a minimum 2 1/2 inch mounting surface. So I bought a 1x4 oak board, cut it to the right length, sanded it, painted it and installed my gate on it. I had to do a little extra work but for the most part this product was exactly what I was looking for. I uploaded an image of my app showing the wider board I used.
