I am so glad I bought this light. The wide base hides damage to the plaster around the old fixture and the cables are very easy to adjust. I would say the instructions aren't great. So if you've never changed a light fixture, you should check out YouTube first. However, if you're like me and get most of your stuff done, you won't have a problem. I've replaced 5 lights in my house in the last 2 months, this one was the easiest. I used mine in the dining room and the cages around the lights cast shadows but love the effect but if you don't like it you can just use glass and omit the cages. I find this lamp very versatile and will definitely buy it again!
