Review on πŸš— AVA Prime Microfiber Car Drying Towel with Double-Twist Pile - 600 GMS, Large Size Cleaning Cloth for Lint-Free Detailing - (23.6x35.4 Inch) by Jose Moran

Big greedy towel.

When microfiber drying towels first came out, most were thinner waffles and were the standard for many years. Manufacturers then began making thicker two-ply towels, essentially two towels sewn together. I liked these towels better overall. They are usually softer and can absorb/hold more water. This towel from AVA is double-layered, so again two towels sewn together. This is not a problem, many high-quality towels have a similar design. It's rated 600 GSM (they have a typo in the product name) which means grams per square meter. It's a big number, it's a thick towel. I was immediately concerned that the seller didn't list the microfiber blend. Dryer towels are usually a 70/30 or 80/20 blend, meaning the fabric is 70% polyester and 30% polyamide, or 80% and 20%. In general, a 70/30 towel is softer and absorbs more water than an 80/20 blend. I contacted the seller to inquire about the mix. The seller responded in a timely manner, but only to inform me that the towel is microfiber. I replied immediately and clarified my question, but never received an answer. The design of the towel is ambiguous. It's sewn well, but my towel had quite a noticeable pull and still had a few inches of thread attached. It also had a few cut threads. This indicates that this towel has not been inspected since it was made. The material itself is made in China. While South Korea claims to produce higher quality microfiber, some Chinese mills also produce excellent quality material. The towel wasn't as soft as I expected. Before first use I washed it alone with a microfiber cleaner as you should always do with any towel that touches your paint. He softened a little. I did not use it for my paint due to the unknown blending and softness issues. I pay a lot of attention to the paintwork on my cars. I used it to dry my tires and trunk liner. This is a thirsty towel that holds quite a bit of water. I will continue to use it for such purposes. Update: I received a reply from the seller today that the towel is an 80%/20% mix.
