Review on πŸ’Ί Aiden Metal Futon Frame, Black by DHP by Jennifer Davis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cheap production - You get what you pay for - Requires update to repair

First impression. 4of5I bought a futon frame from DHP Aiden. It arrived intact in a compact box with a warning label asking two people to pick it up, which is good advice unless you're Arnold Schwarzenegger. Came with all necessary parts and instructions. The instructions were pretty easy to follow, although there are a lot of parts and you'll have to spend a couple of hours bending over and crouching on the floor to put it all together. A large room with plenty of room to spread out helps. The minimalist supplied wrench does not fit. I used a socket wrench set. But be gentle! A large wrench makes it easier to tighten the included bolts/nuts. We found the futon to be comfortable enough, and for the price, there's nothing surprising about the cheap fasteners and shoddy finish. Do not use in high humidity climates or in a basement - any exposed metal parts will rust easily and the paint is not good enough to keep moisture out. 1 week later. 2of5 Folded from "bed" to "sofa" and one of the panels didn't hold up (the metal tube was bent). I called customer service and they asked for the part number (found in the owner's manual), serial number (printed on a sticker in the owner's manual and on the box so you don't lose the owner's manual) and asked for pictures. I had the part replaced within 4 or 5 days and no warranty issues. This saves the rating of 1 out of 5 stars. The problem, however, is poor design. The steel tube is thin-walled and light, slightly larger than an electric wire. The manufacturing process used to create bolt holes involves punching rather than piercing, which weakens the tube. In addition, the bolt holes are in areas of high stress and if the tube is deformed, either during manufacture or as a result of over-tightening the bolts, the tube will lose strength. I spent about $16 at the hardware store for a 3 foot section of 1 inch wide 90 degree perforated rod, 8 screws and 8 washers. and assemble. I am posting pictures of the breakdown and my repair. Buyers beware if you're not practical. Final rating 3 out of 5 stars. Expect my renovation to outlive the usefulness of the futon, I'm minimally satisfied.
