I don't remember much about the accident but I did avoid the pedestrian. Unfortunately I lost control of the bike, hit a telephone pedestal, flew over the handle bars head and shoulder down and tumbled into a concrete power pole at a pretty good clip. Other than cuts and bruises on my elbow, right shoulder, jaw, butt and a slight cut on the back of my head, the helmet took the the initial impact well. I was knocked unconscious for a few minutes but was able to ride the 6 miles back home after a while. Now it's time to heal and reflect what I did wrong, it's coming back slowly. I really don't know what the outcome would have been if I wasn't wearing a good helmet! Thanks Team Obsidian!
