Does not hold a charge - even after multiple discharge to 3% / fully recharge cycles

Won't hold a charge - The battery looks like a well-made battery and it does fit my T580 perfectly but it won't hold a charge. I see that the battery was manufactured in 2020 so it's about 2yrs old. Maybe the battery is "stale"? Not sure if batteries go bad if they're not actively being used?
