So far so good
I have two other mics that I'm going to compare this one to, the VRX10 and the PowerDwise Gun mics. The point is the hard wire of the microphone, in the event of damage you would be standing in the creek without a paddle. I am currently using this mic on my DSLR and have not tried it with any of my phones yet. From what I'm getting sounds pretty good. Longevity remains to be seen. Keep for updates.
