Bought to use for wildlife photography Rig weighs over 7 pounds. My last tripod failed to fix my large, modern Sigma 150-600mm lens and camera. As soon as I released him, he tumbled to the ground, even in his tightest position. However, this gimbal head not only supports the weight of my large lens, camera and dual battery holder, but also holds them securely and I can move them smoothly. It even came with a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter so I could mount it on my heavy duty tripod regardless of the thread type. I'm very happy with it and in fact I'm going out to use it this morning.
