Works great for me.

Makes macro photography and wildlife tracking much easier than a ball head. I wasn't sure how often I would use this, but after seeing a friend use the one that cost him $90, I figured the reviews for it were as good or even better than the $90 one. I think $500 would be better, but not for my casual use. I attached the gimbal to my ball head and tightened it. I only used the stabilizer so I could just remove the ball head and attach the stabilizer directly to the tripod.

You get what you pay for!

The price is more than fair. My Nikon d500 with battery is very tight. The tilt position is not very strong. I have a very low battery in my Nikon D500. You have to watch out for the quick shoe locking handle, mine will come off and the camera could fall off. IF YOU LOSE A PART, GOOD LUCK BUYING A REPLACEMENT PART! I was looking for a replacement 1/4 threaded quick shoe. I can not find. If you know how to order let me know as long as it's a doorstop!

I hoped for the best. upset.

I am disappointed in its durability. The moving parts are very wobbly. If all knobs are loose, it is unstable. The swinging part moves more like a figure eight than a swinging motion. This is a kind of defeat of the target. The compass doesn't even work on it (it generally doesn't matter). There is also metal on metal grinding of moving parts. I'm not sure how long I will trust him as I think eventually he will fall apart and drop my camera.

Not really suitable for full tripods

You get what you pay for but as far as I can tell this gimbal isn't really meant for regular use, it looks more like I do would design for someone who is not an engineer. Basically the unscrewed top dial allows the arm to wiggle but is also the main connection/suspension point so when unscrewed there is a slight angle at the arm after which all the weight of your camera and gimbal arm hangs on that dial. instead of the usual ones, where the arm is well suspended, tight or loose. Rather spend a…

The materials are ok but the design is not

My first try to find a cheap gimbal head but a bit disappointed. 8"-1/4" hub/adapter Cons: - When the tilt knob is loosened, there is a gap between the arm and the frame, causing the arm to "bend" and no longer be in a horizontal position. If you decrease the tilt angle, the gap disappears, but tilting is no longer possible. - Tilt motion stops unless the tilt knob is loosened a lot (but then there's a gap and a sharp drop off) - Panning seems good, but it's a little binding - Edges are pretty…

Get what you pay for

I didn't have high expectations based on the price, but I expected slightly better quality. The compass on my head literally worked the day I received the goods. At first he was levitating, and then he started levitating in a tilted position no matter how hard I tried. There have also never been good accurate readings. Then the button/plug on which the compass is placed just fell out. I wasn't upset because that's when I found the screw I needed to tighten to take out all the sloppiness of the…

NOT WHAT YOU WANT If you want a smooth and accurate gimbal

I bought this inexpensive head for a fairly inexperienced second shooter to use on a monopod or tripod without worrying about a clamped body and having to do a pretty heavy 70 – 200mm of unbalanced drop on the ball head with no manual stabilization. It's not the perfectly smooth and "floating" gimbal you get for $600 - not even close, so don't expect it. it, and the second shooter used it several times. We're filming something moving almost straight at us, so we want stability and smooth…

Terrible gimbal but fixable

First of all, the thing is shaky and not smooth at all. If you don't have a hand, don't buy these. I took mine apart and was able to make it stable and smooth. I did this. I took mine apart and was able to get it sturdy and smooth and that would undoubtedly void any warranty. The compass is something that can be obtained from the gumball machine. I removed it along with the lid it was sitting in. This gave me access to the bolt. I took it apart and found that some parts of the machining were…

Reliable value for money. Very impressed

Bought to use for wildlife photography Rig weighs over 7 pounds. My last tripod failed to fix my large, modern Sigma 150-600mm lens and camera. As soon as I released him, he tumbled to the ground, even in his tightest position. However, this gimbal head not only supports the weight of my large lens, camera and dual battery holder, but also holds them securely and I can move them smoothly. It even came with a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter so I could mount it on my heavy duty tripod regardless of the thread

Pros
  • 3. Easy to balance lens and follow action smoothly Easy vertical balance lever with built in compass

NOT WHAT YOU WANT If you want a smooth and precise gimbal

I bought this inexpensive head for a fairly inexperienced second shooter to use on a monopod or tripod without worrying about pinched body and rather heavy 70-200mm when shooting on a ball head unbalanced if he is not using manual stabilization. It's not the perfectly smooth and "floating" gimbal you get for $600 - not even close, so don't expect it. I kept it and the second shooter used it multiple times.
