NOT WHAT YOU WANT If you want a smooth and accurate gimbal

I bought this inexpensive head for a fairly inexperienced second shooter to use on a monopod or tripod without worrying about a clamped body and having to do a pretty heavy 70 โ€“ 200mm of unbalanced drop on the ball head with no manual stabilization. It's not the perfectly smooth and "floating" gimbal you get for $600 - not even close, so don't expect it. it, and the second shooter used it several times. We're filming something moving almost straight at us, so we want stability and smooth panning, and we don't need very large or very quick tilt adjustments. โ€ข There is no alignment pin on the plate to prevent the lens from unscrewing. Fixing screw for each movement of the camera. I pretty much fixed it with a large screwdriver and threadlocker. โ€ข The plate in the receiver needs to be checked and tightened regularly during shooting and isn't as easy to install as other arca combos I've used. โ€ข The pan feels smooth and solid. โ€ข Tilt would be an issue for those expecting silky smooth performance. There don't seem to be any bearings or bushings - loosening the toggle knob just lets the arm sag and hang. Nothing you need to follow BIF or try to follow active up/down, back/forward movements. โ€ข You can probably achieve something approaching equilibrium, but you can't be sure because there's a lot of friction in the lean. Function. when he is weak. It's exactly what I expected and works fine for my intended use 2 or 3 times a year if I use it for someone else.
