Review on 🎡 Enhanced Olympus WS-310M 512 MB Voice Recorder and Music Player with Advanced Features by Andre Noel

Fine recorder -- with multiple negatives

Olympus WS-310m is a winner! I used to have an Olympus DM-10 (and my son has a DM-20). Both are solid performers, well built. But unfortunately I lost my DM-10 a year ago and decided to replace it with a WS-310m and I have not been disappointed. The Electronics 310m has essentially the same features as the DM-10 but is physically smaller. The device connects via USB (not sure if it's USB2) in a tricky way, since the USB connector is built into it, no cable needed! A significantly larger storage space is also welcome, offering enough space for MP3 playback. I used to use an extra peanut shaped stereo mic with my DM-10 which worked fine, but the 310m has stereo mics built in and they do a good job! You can also use the memory as an external flash drive! Okay, what to complain about: the 310m is plastic and the DM-10 is metal and feels solid. I'm sure a 4 foot fall onto concrete will damage the 310 meter hull. There's a lanyard hole (be sure to use this - although Olympus didn't provide this cord for 15 cents!). Recording times with a single AAA battery could be better (I often use rechargeable batteries). Another real gripe: the battery cover is a thin, detachable piece of plastic and can slide off with little effort. I solved this potential problem by using a small piece of clear tape to keep the battery cover secure!
