Syncing between my desktop and laptop has always been done via SyncBack Pro over a gigabit network. As the file size increased, it became clear that the bottleneck was gigabit ethernet. Setup was easy enough, but even though Windows 10 recognized the cable, it still required Bravura software and ONLY Bravura to work. And here it goes a little sideways. I couldn't use Syncback Pro to sync between my laptop and desktop with a pluggable USB 3.0 cable because I couldn't create a network using a bridge cable. The next problem is that Bravura software cannot SYNC hidden system folders like the AppData folder, which contains some application data. This becomes problematic when someone syncs data from apps that store information in their own folder. Support recommends using the manual copying of files using the drag-and-drop method. To top it off, the theoretical bandwidth available for USB 3.0 is 5 Gb/s, or a theoretical maximum of around 640 MB/s. The benchmark took about 17 minutes to transfer 50GB ISO images. On average, that's about 49 MB/s. Copying the same files over the network is faster than >100MB/s. Copying between USB drives and internal SSDs has a write speed of >400MB/s. Both systems have fairly reliable characteristics i.e. Core i7 with 32GB RAM and SSDs. Regarding this, there have been replies for support saying "we can't comment on network speed" or "can't comment on other sync apps" *to paraphrase*. I am very disappointed with this purchase given the expected performance gain that is nowhere to be seen. However, if you just want a no-frills quick sync app with a USB 3.0 connection, this will pretty much fit your needs. Price-wise, it's not that bad, and it's a lot easier to set up than network sync. However, the support team has responded fairly quickly and seems to be taking the reviews fairly well, adding a star for that alone. .
