Bent needles broke quickly

Bent needles broke within minutes of use when sewing pieces of felt glued together in layers with Mod Podge or contact adhesive. I'm not sure if my use pushed the curved needles beyond their intended use, but it seems like the needles might have been stiffer for an upholstery set. good quality cotton yarn; I have not used the other components of the kit yet.
