Stairs have no power sockets, so a battery powered night light with motion sensor is required. Based on good experience with Auvon's plug-in version, tried this one. Arrived quickly and in a nicely wrapped box. Batteries installed (not included). Everything works. The light is just right to ensure a safe view when climbing stairs. but not so bright as to disturb others in the house or interfere with night vision. The light range is about 4-5 feet. The motion perception field looks like it's about 160 degrees wide. The motion detection area is almost too large (entering the next room triggers this at one end of the stairs). Battery life. Probably up to 6 months. One month use: 1 out of 3 times the battery died. Maybe it's the battery (although they were all from the same kit purchased). Swapped it out and see if this light does the same thing again. The other 2 are happy so far. Note: The seller provides a BOGO coupon in a box. which was easy to imagine and received the 2nd set of these same lights. If one indicator turns out to be constantly draining the batteries, it's good to have a second set as a backup.
