Like many other customers, I did some research and decided on our new Miele vacuum cleaner. I bought it 15 months ago. I immediately liked the articulated leg and the quality of the brushes which were a pleasure to effectively clean hard surfaces and carpets. It's been over a year now and I've had to repair the vacuum cleaner 3 times - the connection inside the hose to the power socket keeps failing. Our local Authorized Service Provider (we're lucky enough to even have one in our area, which I didn't find very often!) fixed it 2 times for $100 each - I was told that if this happened again I would would need a new hose item for $200! Various knobs that allow you to extend the rigid part of the hose also popped out and lost their function, they have been repaired. My mum has owned an Electrolux all my life - it was replaced with a new one about 12 years ago - never had a problem. and I figured that buying my Miele would be an investment I would live with just as long. For a thousand dollars I was ready for a carefree vacuum that would go on and on! Unfortunately, Miele is not a vacuum cleaner. The big 7 year warranty labels don't cover my problem! Didn't know there was only a one year warranty for other issues - good luck buying a new vacuum.
