I am very impressed with the quality of this oil conservator. It is very well made and, as described, keeps the oil fresh and spreadable. I had no problems with oil falling into the water as other reviewers have mentioned. The instructions say to soften the butter to room temperature and slowly press it into the bell with the back of a spoon to eliminate air pockets. This is the method I used and it seems to work. I used about 3/4 of a pack of oil I squeezed into the bracket and the rest is still intact. The only "problem" I have is that the oil is so fresh and easy to spread that I use too much! :) Don't forget to change the water every few days, rinse the inside of the container (which holds the water) and wipe the outside of the bell (which goes in the water) at that time so it doesn't get slimy. This is important, especially if you don't use the oil every day. After all, it is stagnant water where bacteria can grow.
