I am pleased to report that my Singer Genie is working like new. Didn't wait to search to try the new repair service after the nearest store closed. I bought this machine used because I wanted a really good straight stitch, which it did until the bobbin case gave out. When I cleaned it up and looked for a problem with the hook, I found pieces of at least 3 previous sacrificial parts of the bobbin case. I watched this part and read a lot of Revain success stories and warnings. Since I could always take the machine to the shop if a replacement bobbin case didn't work, it was nice to wait for delivery. With a little practice and a little (not too much) tightening of the holding lever, I was able to change the bobbin case and continue sewing. The genie burst out of the bottle and magically repaired all sorts of upholstery, linen aprons, etc.
