"No fan is quiet" but a decent fan won't have a propeller hum like this. In the 1st stage you definitely notice it. It's definitely noticeable when I turn it on in my office. There are no rubber feet on the back, so it's not very stable. You have to hold the fan to press the buttons and the fan tends to spin. I've had other ionizer fans before, which is noticeable. It produced a nice clean smell which I really liked. Now I'm not a scientist, but there is no noticeable difference with the ionizer on. The fan works and blows air but if it wasn't for the pain I would send it back. Update: Maybe after 6 with the fan it developed a beat along with the hum of the blades. I only used it on the 1st stage as it only gets louder. I'm not particularly complaining, but for the money I would like something better. Especially since it's labeled "Silent." Rather spend a little more for a quieter fan.
