Review on πŸ” Auto Meter 2337 Autogage Vacuum Gauge Panel: High Precision and Convenient Readings by Sean Julian

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent pressure gauge; delivers very valuable information at low cost.

I have had Autometer sensors fitted to my cars for the last 15 years and they have never failed. I would like to know what is going on in my cars, ESPECIALLY old ones. It is an extremely affordable, permanent diagnostic tool that was installed on a 1996 1.0 liter 3 cylinder Geo Metro vehicle. The plastic hose barely extends from the MAP sensor to the other side of the vehicle, but the installation of the parts included in the kit was successful (if additional hose is needed, it can be purchased in the plumbing section of the hardware store). I used a 2" hole saw and drilled a hole to the left of the handlebar (before drilling, I made sure there were no wires or steel beams behind the hole). When installed, it showed a slightly low vacuum (16 inches at idle) and a slightly wobbling needle, confirming a leak in the #3 exhaust valve (a very common tube issue) I did a compression test a few months ago and #3 was the only under-powered cylinder (100psi; normal are 160 to 200psi).The location in the picture is next to the dimmer on the geometer so hooking up the backlight to the existing lighting was easy. Both green and red lamp covers are included although I believe the autometer has other colors (bezels/covers removed because the car is also equipped with a 3-cylinder tachometer).

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
