Review on Noble Outfitters Guardsman Turnout Blanket by Allie Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Basically deserves 5 stars.

I ordered this coat a few months ago and needed it for the expected heavy rains. My TB has a rain cover, but it is no longer fully waterproof. So one of the main reasons for buying this coat was the ability to wear it unlined. It failed miserably and my horse was wet when I tested it. When it arrived the buckles didn't hold up to the male and female mounts so I had to tie the buckles together. I contacted the company and they quickly sent the correct buckles. I was so unhappy that the coat wasn't waterproof. I chose to use it with a liner on a dry day and liked the fit and the warmth it offered. He wore it on a rainy day and unfortunately he didn't get wet with the liner in it! My horse has 5 coats and this one definitely offers the most wind protection because it's so long. My boy is 17 hands so he loves this feature. Other reviews I read said the end cap had to be cut and this was done. He is not frayed and can now raise his tail to poop, but the flaps still cover his cock. The buckles have come loose once or twice but have not been lost and close easily. He only had to wear both earplugs for a few days and was very warm when both were outside when teenagers were outside. I'm barely 5'7" tall enough to put on liners while my boy wears a coat. I don't see how a smaller person could do that without standing on anything. I also have a hood on this coat, and even in inclement weather my boy stays warm and dry Although I should have given 4 stars I would definitely buy another one and recommend it.
