UPDATED --- time to blame me. It turns out that my own incompetence/error led to my original rating. It shocks me too. I decided to reconnect the C-cable before dealing with sending the charging cable back. The c-usb cable, which was much criticized in my original review, is intact/defective. I just had to push it in with a little more force than my original cable to connect it to an electrical jack in my phone's USB-C port. Once connected, the cable works as expected. Other than that, it's well built. I was overly cautious with my new phone and wanted to avoid possible damage to the USB-C port if this purchased cable didn't connect like the original cable. Just make sure to gently insert it into the phone's USB-C port as far as it will go before it meets resistance. At this point, simply push the fork down with some force and it will snap firmly into place. I have upgraded my original rating from 1 to 5 stars due to my original mistake. I did not test the car charger as my car has USB ports. I bought this charger as a backup should I ever need an old school charger. However, the 6ft fast charging cable is good for its extra length and solid construction. -Socket/socket on my Samsung Galaxy 9 Plus smartphone. The USB cable connector just plugged freely into the phone's USB port but was not attached to anything. The oval metal grommet/male end of the cable that plugs into my phone's C-USB jack is narrower/more compact than the metal shell end of the C-male male cable that came with my phone. I am returning this defective item to Revain.
