I've been using it for a couple of weeks and am very happy with the quick heat up, temperature control and auto shut off. I wanted 80 watts of power from solder bundles of 18 gauge stranded wire to fix light fixtures and chandeliers. Many of the 40-watt irons available just didn't have the heat capacity I needed. UPDATE 09/24/2021: After about 20 months of daily use at a maximum temperature of 480 degrees, the tip is still fine! Still heats up quickly like day one. It is heavily used and has a much longer lifespan than previous Weller irons. I'm so glad I'm ordering a second iron as a backup and for the occasional case when two operators need to solder at the same time.
