Top zip closure and there is also a small zipped area on the front for things you want to easily reach; Car keys, napkins, money. The bag is fully lined so I hope it will last quite a while. Wipe clean with cold water. The strap is 24 to 26 inches and is not adjustable. I'm 5ft 2in and the bag is below my waist. From the top of my thigh, my knees are halfway up. You won't be disappointed with this hobo bag. I plan to take it to the beach. The designs are amazing! High quality bag that exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.
