It's water. It made steam. It's probably actually "deionized", I can't verify that without a lab. Leaves no odor in the air after use. When the bottle was opened, it only smelled vaguely of citrus fruits, similar to how Country Time smells vaguely of lemonade. It was quite difficult to remove the seal, I ended up puncturing the foil with a pocket knife screwdriver and lifting it until I could get it off. Save $7 when you buy a gallon of distilled water at the grocery store. If you like, add a few drops of citrus or mint essential oil.
