I bought this because in winter when I walk my dog it is surprisingly warm for what it is. I wear it instead of wrapping myself in a blanket. When rainy snow hit it, it repelled the water and kept me comfortable and dry (I'm not saying jump in the pond and you'll be dry), but it serves a good purpose. I wear it quite often, it's soft. On my bare skin, non-cashmere is soft, but close enough without the high price tag. My poncho hangs down to my knees.
