Desk is desk, right? Not in this case. I needed a desk my kids could live on for over a year, a sturdy desk, and enough storage space. This table is perfect for all of that. I can sit comfortably at their table (I'm 5'8) and so can my husband (6'2), but my 6 and 9 year olds also sit comfortably with their feet on the floor. The table isn't too high or too short, but it's adjustable in height (3 I think?) and the space inside is about the size of a school desk in a classroom. I prefer a cabinet over a detachable desk where you have to remove everything from the desk to lift the lid. Ink - I don't want to scratch the table (it's so new!) and I'm not sure how well it cleans - so can't comment on how easy it is to remove the black marker etc. Just buy a cheap plastic napkin anywhere for less than a dollar and you're done. Definitely worth the money to make our home school environment more like a classroom. There are two hooks for bags on the sides of the table, which is also convenient and improves their quality. One thing we're trying to figure out is the metal bar that runs down either side - sometimes my son kicks it and it can hurt! It's not a problem if they're wearing pants with boots and socks, but if they're working there in shorts and barefoot, it can take a hit. I guess he'll just stop kicking his feet once he realizes he's hitting that bar every time. I shopped a lot before finding these - every furniture store, children's store and discount store has something, but these were by far the best quality for the price. And you can't get much cheaper unless you want a teenage set that kids will outgrow within a year or two, or don't mind flimsy molded plastic. These are real school desks and as I said, my husband and I can sit comfortably on them.
