This was an almost exact strap replacement on my old ratchet strap. Although my buckle was riddled with scratches, I chose this replacement strap over a new one because I prefer the ones that have the strap UNDER itself and these types of buckles are hard to find. I had no problem cutting the strap to a reasonable length and the buckle snapped into the new strap just as well as the old one. .I might buy another one just to have an extra one on hand if it needs to be replaced.
