Review on JVC HARX500 Full Size Headphones Silver by Justin Garrett

Don't even think about buying these headphones, they sound great but very poor construction. I had a very hard time installing the new ones without damaging them as they came with no instructions. After about 6 months, both speaker sleeves have completely detached from the halo because they are attached with a very small self-tapping screw. Painted black to blend in with the rest and hide the cheapness of construction. The self-tapping screw completely ripped off the piece of plastic on the halo to which they were attached and was beyond repair. (And I've worked as an audio engineer most of my life.) The screws were alternately loosened, then retightened, and even put a drop of superglue in each screw hole to hold them in place. but to no avail, in the end they both cut out the holes completely until there was no thread left. There was no point in using a larger screw as it interfered with the movement and snug fit of the ear cuffs on both ears. I could have at least gotten "good enough" headphones, but tape didn't help either. Moral of the story: YOU CAN'T DRIVE A SELF-PERFORMING SCREW THROUGH PLASTIC AND EXPECT IT WILL NOT BREAK A HOLE THAT IS SCREWED. ! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS INSTALLED ON A MOVING PART! KEEP THESE EARPHONES EVEN IF JVC STARTS GIVING THEM FREE BECAUSE YOU DECIDE!
