I really love Smart Wool and this is my third Smart Wool gaiter, it is well made and covers the face, ears and neck. I go for a walk every day and also walk my dog no matter the weather, and it's very windy in NE Ohio and I don't go out without them. I wear a hat and put on gaiters to cover my ears for extra protection. I have not worn leggings without a hat. It stays and you can breathe easy. I wash them by hand and then hang them up to dry or put them out and dry them on the radiator. This product is worth it. I have asthma and I can't stand all the winter weather. It's also easy to pack when you get too hot and keep your neck warm. I only buy Smart Wool 5 stars
