You can't go wrong with Smartwool

Whatever the reason, I HATE drafts on my neck when cycling or running. This thing copes perfectly with the cold, maybe even too much! It's long enough to cover both the top and bottom of the neck without the constriction of the fabric of typical gaiters/buffs. It is also good for sitting in the woods (hunting) on cool autumn or early winter days. You simply can't go wrong when you choose Smartwool. I would recommend this for all day, every day use.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Useless features

I like leggings, but.

So these gaiters are very good. It's soft, a good size and does the job. I would give it 5 stars but two small issues. First the seam will be displaced, so it needs to be stretched as it should be in its original shape. Still uncritical, but a bit annoying. When I received the spats they also smelled like the box was somewhere on fire. My parents had a fire in their house, so I know the smell associated with it well. After washing, the smell is gone. So take away those two factors and I would…

Great neck warmer/gaiter

Almost perfect. Fine, smooth merino wool and very warm. It's a bit short. I wish they had made it about 2-6 inches longer so it can be compressed a little more and pulled further down the neck and pulled up on the chin, face and nose without pulling it away from the base of the neck. Other Plus, it's amazing! I took an hour long walk through the woods and fields of the local park where it can get freaking cold and I was sweating in about 30 minutes! It was 12* no wind. keeps you warm and should

Great warm wool, great coverage and fit

I really love Smart Wool and this is my third Smart Wool gaiter, it is well made and covers the face, ears and neck. I go for a walk every day and also walk my dog no matter the weather, and it's very windy in NE Ohio and I don't go out without them. I wear a hat and put on gaiters to cover my ears for extra protection. I have not worn leggings without a hat. It stays and you can breathe easy. I wash them by hand and then hang them up to dry or put them out and dry them on the radiator. This…

The basis of winter in accessories

I love these leggings so much that I bought several of them. I lost a worn out one to another (many years later) and wanted a backup "just in case". I wear this every day, maybe four months a year. Because cold air makes my asthma worse and I spend a lot of time outdoors, including hiking, biking, and taking the bus almost every day, I need to be able to cover my mouth and nose. This allows me to easily raise it up when I need it and then lower it back down if my glasses fog up or I get too…

Pros
  • Makes you trust
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Perfect for winter running or outdoor activities

I bought these socks when I signed up for New Years Eve for 5k and the pace was in the single digits. My training runs were tough because of the cold and I actually hurt my mouth from running in the bitter cold. My doctor suggested gaiters and I did a little research and saw rave reviews about it from Smartwool. It is very warm! That's great. I'm the type who refuses to wear a turtleneck because I despise things around my neck so the first time I wore it was a little tight but after a few…
