Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Spectra CU1998 Complete Radiator by Dexter Rasberry

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Four hits, you're out.

I bought a Spectra Premium CU1998 radiator to replace my original Toyota radiator. Everything seemed to be in good condition, installed with no problems. After several test runs, it turned out that everything was fine. About a week later I noticed a coolant leak around the scalloped seam at the top and a gear oil leak at the lower fitting. I was able to tighten the lower fitting to slow the transmission oil spill, but the seepage through the top of the radiator bothered me. replacement requested. The first replacement came quickly and was damaged (overflow fitting broken off). The second replacement came quickly and was damaged (bypass fitting broken and gear oil fitting bent). The third replacement came quickly (the overflow fitting broke off). At this point I settled on an original Toyota radiator (Toyota Parts 16410-YZZAJ) which cost more but was significantly better quality. For example, the transmission fluid fitting on a Toyota radiator is a solid piece of metal, while the Spectra fitting uses a compression fitting. See attached photos for comparison. During this process I tested a total of four (4) Spectra radiators and found problems within the first week. Toyota radiator was installed and has worked great for the last 8 months. The best thing I can say about Spectra Premium is their quick and painless return policy.
