Plastic straws are bad for the environment, but they make drinking so much easier. I love smoothies and green juice, but I'm not quite ready to drink it out of a paper straw (gross). My favorite green juice/smoothie store started using paper straws so I stopped going there. Paper straws tend to melt into my drink as I sip it. I was dying to continue going to the smoothie shop, but I wasn't sure if there was a good alternative to paper straws. After all, I just bought these plastic straws. What I love about these straws is that the 10mm straws are extra large and perfect for smoothies or milkshakes (and drinking large chunks of fruit or ice cream). I'm not sure what you would use the larger 12mm straw for. In most cities, straws are not recyclable. If you're worried about plastic straws destroying the environment (a very serious concern), you can always recycle them. An easy way to recycle straws is to place them in a polypropylene container (like a milk jug). You can recycle the entire container with straws in it.
