Review on Modern Farmhouse A-Frame Wood Rectangle Side Table for Living Room Small End Accent Table, 13 Inch, White Oak by Walker Edison by Punk Espinoza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very important. very difficult.

The ins and outs of everything you can find in this price range, which is a lot cheaper than what you would have to spend on a coffee table at your local furniture store. I give 5 stars, although some things bother me. The ad says wood, rustic oak color. In fact this meant it was made entirely of chipboard, there was no oak in the product. The legs, shelves, moldings and frame parts are covered with a wafer-thin, chipboard-like material reminiscent of oak. I'm really not sure if it's vinyl or paper. It's very, very thin and easily damaged. The finish appears to have a thicker layer of material, possibly an oak-like vinyl, but that's just a guess. I assume you put your feet on it with your shoes on. or letting children play on it with toys will likely ruin it. Conclusion: You have to know beforehand what you are buying. It's not actually wood, it's particle board made up of shavings and pieces of wood held together with epoxy. Next problem: the supplied dowels and glue. Brief background: I am a retired carpenter teacher. The dowel holes are perfectly positioned, the construction is solid but they are a bit large for the dowels that are included. The dowels should be seated almost firmly in their holes, even without glue, to serve as alignment and structural support. The glue that comes with the kit isn't wood glue, it's something like Elmer's school glue. Loose dowels and useless glue are of little help during assembly and almost a waste of time. Next problem: cam locks. Once again, the technology is reliable. The holes for the included cam bolts and the holes for the cam locks match and are perfectly located. However, cam locks are made of cheap aluminum and are quite soft. If you tighten them with a Phillips head screwdriver, you will most likely just round the slots without properly tightening the cam lock. You can apply significantly more torque with a standard head driver. but be careful. The cam lock is soft/cheap aluminum and unscrews. A few extras are included. but be careful! Finally: You tighten the screws into the built-in and threaded fittings. Once again no technical errors, everything was almost perfect. Don't try to close gaps by applying more torque to the screw. Chipboard does not hold screws and inserted fasteners very securely, there is no roughness so the chips are separated fairly easily under torque. Stop with tight/flush. Don't over tighten. So why five stars? Very heavy solid construction, assembly is easy enough if you take your time and don't tighten anything. Meets our needs, looks good, is very cheap and shipping was free with our Prime account.
