I was looking for a TENS neck massager and ordered this because it was one of the few that had a real digital screen showing what level you are on etc. Some others said they were adjustable 1 to 15 but the complaints were that it was impossible to tell what level it was. I liked that it also had a rechargeable battery and good battery life reviews (a few more uses on the first charge). But what I didn't realize is that the only parts that get hot are the actual pads that sit on the fretboard. Some others have thermal modules in the part that goes to the sides of the neck. I have Bell's Palsy and my lateral neck muscles are so tight that's the main reason I wanted this - to relax and soothe the lateral side of my neck while also getting a neck massage. I decided to keep it because I like it and I've experimented turning it sideways and leaving the TENS part on the side of my neck. And others with heated sides don't have the other qualities I like about them. But if it also had lateral thermals it would be a perfect 10!
