I would say the product is good for the price. Its sound is certainly better than my standard TV speakers, but still tinny. The remote control and the ability to control the volume remotely is the reason for my lower stars. The remote is bad, and that's generous. It doesn't work consistently, and yes the plastic has been removed - you have to find the right angle and get close, which defeats the purpose. They need to be at the right angle next to the volume knob to be more accurate, and even then it's difficult to recreate any semblance of consistency. If you don't mind getting up to change your volume to get a discount, then by all means. It turns your TV and cable volume controls into a useless word of warning.
