Review on πŸ“Έ Opteka M900: 71-Inch 5 Section Ultra Heavy Duty Monopod - Max Load 30 lbs by Jorge Kumar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sturdy and foldable with light weight.

I have looked at more than 30 other monopods. I needed one that I could use as a walking stick (I just had a knee replacement and I'm going to Greece/Italy soon) and as a monopod that folds up for travel but isn't too heavy. I didn't want to spend a fortune either. This monopod weighs just over 1 1/2 pounds (27 ounces), which is still small for such a sturdy monopod. It's big enough that you can use it as a walking stick without extending the bottom 1 or 2 sections. Used like this, it's like walking with a baseball bat. VERY durable. When it's stretched out, it's taller than me (and I'm 5ft 11") even before I mount the camera on it. It's still very solid, even fully extended. Hinged locks quickly lock/unlock each section. I use an Opteka TH10 ball head with a quick release plate mounted on it, which raises the camera an additional 4 inches. The TH10 seems strong enough to hold the tank but I mainly use it with the Fuji HS20EXR 30X Zoom. I could use a heavier ball head (Th20 or 40) if I was using a DSLR and telephoto lens etc. but a monopod, the Opteka M900 can easily handle a heavy camera. This makes wonderful 360-degree panorama shots possible. With this monopod, I can take clear pictures even at 30x magnification or in low light conditions. At around $20, this monopod is way above anything I've found for under $80-$120. Certainly the best value for money!
