Damaged? Motherboards

This is for the second board I have received. The first was in a sealed shipping box, but the product box was opened, as was the anti-static bag. I sent this board back for exchange. The second board came only in an ASUS product box that was not sealed with tape; however, the anti-static bag was not opened and all accessories were fine. I started the build with some reservations, only to find that the box won't ship even if there is memory on the A-side. It turned out that several pins on the processor socket were dented. I've spent too much time troubleshooting to be able to get it back. My first thought was that I did something wrong installing the processor, but I was very careful to align the chip, so I have to believe that's how the board came out. After all I thought it was cheap, I should have known better to buy an advanced motherboard for only $189. I replaced it with an MSI board and now it works. I've been buying ASUS boards since about 2008 and never had a problem until now.
