Great addition to my wireless network. I have a "man cave/office" in my detached garage about 100 feet from my cable company provided Wi-Fi modem. This was actually possible but the signal was without an extender but it was weak and often lost connection or slow speed. I installed this NETGEAR N300 about 50 feet away. Now I have a great connection for my laptop. The initial setup is as follows: Plug the range extender into an outlet (I placed them side by side) very close to the modem. DO NOT use an Ethernet cable to set up this extender. Wait for the green Power LED on the power strip to turn on. Press the WPS button on the extender and another LED indicator will flash. Press the WPS button on your old modem. and watch them connect. I had to look for the WPS button on an old modem because it's not obvious, but it exists. If the router LED on the extender is green, turn off the extender and move it to an area that already has a signal. (I placed an extension cord halfway between my office and the old modem) as it can't "extend" something it can't detect! - Select the newly created network name (this is your old network name with -EXT at the end) - Use the password you use for your existing Wi-Fi system and you're done!
