The back is bolted to the panels, I wanted it to be welded. The screws to attach the pillow were small. I used a larger screw and plastic washer for the license plate screw between the pad and the mounting plate and it made a world of difference! The pillow is now firm and does not wobble. Looks very good, my wife likes it as a passenger. I'll probably weld it shut and re-chrome or powder coat it black. If it was a welded piece I would have paid another $150 for it.
