Our kids wanted matching Christmas lights on our backyard patio but above deck. We already had 2 lamp posts so we got these to put the lamp posts around our deck and then pass the Christmas lights and unbreakable fairy lights from one pole to the other. The pole is 9 feet tall and attaches in the grass next to the deck railing. They're big enough not to get in the way, although the garlands will sag a bit midway between the two poles (unless you hang them very tight on purpose). These bars can be split into 3 parts for easy storage when not in use. in use and have a wide hanging area from above. You can remove the stake and it has a small base at the bottom to stand on deck or concrete, but you will need to drill or nail holes in the base to secure them so they don't accidentally fall off. I really think the best use for these sticks is to put them on grass or ground. Great price compared to other lamp posts.
